I love wood flooring; it’s warm in winter, feels cool in the summer. It’s so easy to keep clean with a simple brush and broom. If you spill anything on it there’s no problem, unlike carpets that send everyone scurrying around trying to get red wine stains out with soda water, or salt or even white wine!
But hold on…don’t you pretty much get all of the same advantages with laminate flooring? It’s cool, warm, easy to clean and it looks very similar to wood and…it’s much cheaper.
On-going cleaning and all-purpose maintenance is fairly easy for both types of floor, however certain types of hard wood floors could be refinished so extending their life expectation even further. And most significantly for most of us, while some types of higher end laminate floors might look like real wood, real hard wood floor will always look like the real thing.
Solid wood flooring is one of the most unique type of floors on the market today. For centuries wood floors have been put into houses and most are still in place today, making them an ageless classic. Hard wood is changeless and never goes out of fashion. Wood flooring can truthfully last many life spans. Hard wood is hypoallergenic. Dust mites, mould and mildew cannot mature and hide from view in hard wood. Hard wood will assist in selling a home more rapidly. The discernment of value that comes with hard wood goes a long way with the majority of new homebuyers…and finally - Hard wood flooring ads bona fide worth to your home. In fact estate agent figures show that it adds up to approximately 15% of value to your home.
