Treatments For the Speech Impediment Stammering

Move the clock back fifteen years and what would you see? A banking system which people could trust! Well that is one answer that comes to mind in these troubled financial times however I was asking the question more in relation to stammering and its available treatments. As a person who had a stammer fifteen years ago this is something that is of interest to me and the difference in the forms of treatment for stammering and the quality of treatment in this period is quite amazing, amazing in a positive sense.

I was at the age of twenty fifteen years ago and was starting to become rather frustrated, to put it mildly, having to live life with a stammer. This was at a time when the "internet" was a mere thought in process and when the only treatments for stammering seemingly came in the form of a visit to the local speech and language therapist, therapists who I might add fully admit that they are unable to coach people to fluency. The future for myself when I was aged twenty looked rather bleak. There was no real prospect of me ever achieving fluency as the available treatments, or lack of them, were of such a poor quality. This fact would greatly impact on my whole life; my career, my social life and my love life.

The birth of the internet really did help to develop people's understanding of stammering. People who suffer with this form of speech impediment are now able to search and locate treatments for stammering that work via search engines such as Google.

Self-help audio books

One-to-one stammering courses

Things have certainly improved over the last fifteen years!
