Beware Of The So Called SEO Experts

There are many people and companies who claim to be experts in the field of SEO, but in reality how many of them are? I would say only a small percentage of them are. I have to admit that I have had my fingers badly burnt when it has come to trusting people to promote my own websites and have now learnt my lesson. In this article I will be advising about how people can protect themselves from these SEO fraudsters, advice which I hope will save you from wasting your hard earned cash.
From reading a number of forums I managed to find a man who claimed to be an SEO expert. His prices were not cheap which strangely enough made the whole scam seem even more trustworthy. I quickly signed him up to work on promoting my website. A year later and after a lot of money had been spent, the site was still quite poorly ranked. All I was hearing from this so called SEO expert was that I needed to be patient as these things take time. Now I understand that patience is required but after twelve months I had expected some much higher search engine rankings than what he had produced. I would have been far better off using and spending the money on Google adwords.
My advice to people who are looking for an SEO expert would be to ask the person or company for examples of their past success stories, for examples of websites that they have worked on. I would then phone the webmaster of the site concerned to verify the story etc.
I would also ask him/her about the ways in which they plan to promote the site and would then do a bit of self study to see if these techniques are known to work.
In my opinion it is always best to be prudent and to ask a lot of questions before parting with any cash.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)There's really no detail in this article at all. It's true that the majority of SEOs aren't as good as they claim to be. In many cases, they simply think they're better at it than they are. 12 months is a long time to wait for results, but its not unheard of. If there were more support to the claim, I'd be more sympathetic to your side. How do we know you weren't inadvertently, or unknowingly sabotaging the efforts of the SEO?
There is an attack right now on legit SEO companies even Rip Off Report is lying out there A***S. Why? Because SEO is taking over traditional marketing and the big companies can not stop a guy in the basement or bum with a laptop to bring targeted customers to a business for 1/10th of the price and the companies are starting to feel it.Also it is the business owners themselves that thought that their business was going to benefit from the service and got OK results and are mad because they spent some money, being in advertising all my life I tell right now small business owners are very cheap and do NOT like paying for advertising they always thought even before the INTERNET that they were getting ripped off when ever the pay for something for their business.
